Would you like some help with your goals for 2010?
Of course, you’re going to have to do the work yourself, you know that. But some friendly encouragement, a guilt-free reminder, a cheery smile… that might help?
No, I’m not talking about a coach.
I’m talking about a Mascot!
Mascots for Life:
A cartoon you doing the things you want to do, achieving the things you want to achieve, or working on the things you want to be working on. A visual reminder to remind you of your goals and keep you focused.
You’re more likely to achieve goals when you can picture yourself doing so. With these, you can have a picture in front of you all the time!
I did these mascots for myself last year, after I worked out that what I wanted was a combination of getting things done, connecting with others and holding on to some sense of peace and tranquility (I was suffering under a lot of stress and anxiety.)
So, did it work?
I pinned my three mascots up on my cubicle wall in work, and at home I used them as my desktop background.
They make me smile because they’re cute and friendly, and they also remind me to split my time more evenly between doing, socialising and not-doing. (I tend to err on the side of doing, in case there was any doubt. >_<)
I can’t say it completely changed my life, but it certainly helped a lot to have a reminder in sight that was playful, and didn’t come with internal finger-wagging.
My little mascots helped give me greater awareness, without making me want to hide from my own resolutions.
Ever since I created my original set, I’ve been thinking of offering to do them for others, but something always gets in the way of setting it up. So I’ve decided to do a really small number at a special introduction price, to get a feel for how it works in practice, and so I can fit it in around the other million things I’ve got going on.
So, a small number of buyers can get some mascots at a much lower price than I should be asking, and I can use the momentum to get this thing rolling.
Here’s how it will go:
- You tell me your most important goals, dreams, or themes for the year.
- You also tell me what you look like, or send some pictures so I can make the mascot look like you.
- I tell you what I’m planning to draw. If you have ideas for what your mascot should look like, I can use that, or we can work something out between us.
- When we’re agreed, I draw the mascots and send you an electronic image when they’re done (as a .jpg, the same format as digital photos).
- You also get a print version on a card, so you can pin them up, carry them in your wallet, or shuffle them and draw one at random.
Sold out!
