This was done using ink and colour markers. It was to accompany an article on innovation, new ideas and thinking outside the box, you know, corporate stuff. I’m not sure my flying lightbulb made the article less boring, but one can only try.

For some reason the colours weren’t very well preserved when I saved this for the web, and I’ve misplaced the full-scale original. Sorry about that.

Heather, yoga teacher and blogger, was after a new header for her blog. Because she is trying to deepen her meditation practice, she asked me to draw her in lotus pose.

Heather was very happy with her new look.

I heard the awesome (and rather excitable) Catherine Caine was working on a “Fear Wrangling” product, about taming your fears around starting a website. I thought that was a great idea, and had an idea for an illustration to go with it. Of course, Catherine knows awesome when she sees it, and so the cover for Awesome Fear Wrangling was born.

This mascot was designed for a new website, but the website’s creators made different plans in the end. So now she’s a homeless mascot. She doesn’t mind though, birds were meant to be free. The birdie on the right is a relative who appeared in one of my comic books.

Mascots for Life are personalised little cheerleader versions of you doing the things you would love to do, but not always manage. Like exercising, or taking enough breaks, or accepting help and support, or playing, etc.

They help you achieve your goals by giving you friendly, guilt-free reminders. These are some I did for myself, if you want some of your own contact me.

Even best selling authors let it all hang out sometimes. This is Fingerhead, writer and star of Being Creative, at Halloween. A joke picture I drew for someone in a Halloween art exchange.

This assignment was great fun, I was asked to design a header image for Inky Comics, the new comics-specific site from brochure and everything else-printers Inky Little Fingers. I had heard of Inky Little Fingers from other comic book artists, they were recommended for their quick print times and painless online service. So it made sense for them to set something up especially for the comics people.

They left it pretty much up to me. I decided to go with a mascot-type image, and keep the “inky fingers” idea because it seemed fun and playful. I took the colours from the main inky site to keep a little branding consistency, even though the page looks and feels different. the second image I did was for the background, it’s a bit more subdued so it doesn’t attract too much attention.

Believe it or not, I did this for a female client.

She wanted a cheeky portrait of her best friend, a sassy, chatty party girl who is very aware of her assets and likes wearing low cut tops. In doing the sketches, I kept exaggerating the chest more and more to the point of rediculosity. It made us both laugh, so we went with it.

The client was very pleased, and her friend loved the picture and has sworn revenge.
