This is a fun image I drew on behalf of Alexia Rodrigo, a blog-at-home mother and marketing fiend. She’s selling the image on T-shirts and mugs from one of her websites.

We went backwards and forwards on the colours quite a bit, because it had to be just right. We got it in the end though, and she said, “Thank you, Willie, I love it!” All part of the service.

This is a mascot for the Blogging Mistress, who blogs about WordPress and how to make it super shiny, as well as about the nuts and bolts of blogging itself.

Believe it or not, but this was the first time I’ve been asked to draw a woman in a martini glass. I did enjoy it, I admit.

So, yes, they’re stick figures. I didn’t think you could make money drawing stick figures for people, but it turns out, you can. Who would ask for that, you wonder, what could an illustration like this possibly be for?

Well, it’s a kind of permanent exterior decoration thing.

And no, I’m not sure why either. It’s not my place to wonder, so long as the customer’s happy. She was: “He got it done tonight, it looks awesome! I’ll try to get a pic. He says to tell you thanks a ton, it’s perfect.”

So there you go.

This was a gift drawn for Evelyn Hewett, who draws comics. In fact, these are two of her characters, puppetised by me. And no, I’m not sure why he has toes but no fingers.

OK, truth be told, I could easily post another monster every day for the rest of this year, and probably well into next year. I won’t do that, but here’s just a couple more, in black and white.

Fun fact: I drew most of these monsters while listening to Harry Potter audio books. Yes, really. I loved the early books but in the last few the teenage angst kind of got on my nerves. I wanted to smack all of them sometimes, especially Ron.

Laneth Sffarlenn wanted some mascots for his blog: It Takes 10 Years to Become an Orphan, an autobiographical blog about his journey into, well, orphan-hood. He asked for an Artful Dodger sort of look, but also a mascot that resembled himself.

This was the final result, and Laneth commented: “This really is a brilliant idea! I am so thankful to Willie for working with me on a project similar to this concept for my blog. Thanks Willie, so much – I couldn’t be happier with your art. :)”

Always nice to make people happy.

I’d never heard of Savannah Cats until I got a request to draw one. They’re hybrid cats, combining housecat and serval (that’s an African wild cat) DNA. They’re large, expensive, and can be hard to keep, being only partly domesticated. They sure are pretty though. This kitty was drawn in ink on paper, and digitally coloured.

The Next Chance Cafe is an online hangout with coffee, choco-cherry bonbons and personal re-invention. Proprietor Sherrie asked me for a header for the site, and I had some fun drawing cute cafe type things. Including plants not seen in nature. Ah, artistic freedom, where would we be without you.

Sherrie was happy with the header, and said to tell you this: “Willie is a joy to work with – even across the pond. She immediately “got” what I wanted and then tweaked it until we were both happy. I’d use her again in a heartbeat – great art, great service, great price.”

Brenda Stoltz (@BSStoltz on Twitter) asked me if I could draw her a portrait in pencil. Although portraiture isn’t really my speciality, I agreed to give it a try and she was very happy with the result. It’s probably a good thing I never showed her my initial attempts, in which she looked like a muppet, and then there was one where she looked a bit like one of the mud-people… Anyway, practice makes perfect, or at least better.
